You know, if the stories I've been hearing about demand for the Dreamcast re-surging because of people wanting to play Shenmue are true, we may have an influx of new DC gamers here soon...

I don't welcome higher prices, but it'd be nice to see new people discover what has become an increasingly overlooked console.

Excellent Tier:
Skies of Arcadia
Grandia II
Elemental Gimmick Gear
Phantasy Star Online
Phantasy Star Online Ver. 2
(I know PSO is more of an action-rpg, but they're still RPG's to me ^_^)

Average Tier:
Evolution: The World of Sacred Device
Evolution 2: Far Off Promise

Poor Tier:
Timestalkers

Im just recently looking into RPgs myself. YEs unfortunately the DC is fairly limited in this area. I did try Egg once i didnt find it to my liking. I should really give it another try. I see Record of Lodoss is listed as a Rpg an so is Silver. I read how bad Timestalker was so avoided that. Although in my search some seem to like it. I laso remember timestalkers been in the bargain bin back in the day.

Oh another game that is needed to be put on the list for Dreamcast RPGs is Record of Lodoss Wars. It is a great Diablo-style RPG and well designed and a lot of fun!

Would Armada be considered an RPG? It is a sandbox space shooter with levels and skills and the like, so I would think so as an action RPG? If so, that game is an absolute blast to play, especially with the four player co-op.

Oh what about Silver?

I think that Record of Lodoss War and Silver are actually great. Both action RPG's. I enjoyed Record of Lodoss War and think it's decent. For being a Diablo clone, it does things well. It does have an unforgiving difficulty at times, and swarms of mobs that will test your resolve.

Silver is worth playing and has some cheesy voice acting and a by-the-book's rescue the girl story line, but it's endearing.

Updating list!

A year after its launch rumors were already rampant on Sega pulling out. So as a developer i probably would of been very leery of putting resources for a game as vast as a RPg. Especially one from the ground up. Sega did give us PSO ( which i yet to play) and Skies (haventt played that one either). So its no wonder this Segment list is short. Theres also Chronicles of Pern but i heard that game was rushed out since Sega had already pulled the plug. Still even for a system that was short lived theres a little of just about everything on it.

Theres a little bit of Jared Fogle going on in Evolution. I wonder if the main antagonist is related to the former Subway spokesperson. The line he uses to...Eesh! He basically says he likes underage girls..Don want to spoil it in case anyways is playing this..

WOOHOO Happy 16th Birthday to Sega Dreamcast, in the USA at least.

You can drive Dreamcast! You can drive me anywhere with your whirring little fan and grindy little gears in that optical drive of yours. I'm going to play some of your fantastic games from your modest but outstanding library.

What are you going to play today to celebrate Dreamcast's Sweet Sixteen!
