So I finished Until Dawn, talked about it some in the games beaten thread. Just some more thoughts, Until Dawn is relentless. I've played games where saving someone is just a one and done thing. Until Dawn presents multiple scenarios that can kill off your characters, and it can be anything from a failed quick time event to a poor choice, and sometimes one character's poor choice means ANOTHER character's death. And some choices won't bite you in the ass until later. Even though it doesn't play like a regular survival horror game, Until Dawn really embodies the spirit of survival horror. I constantly got a Resident Evil vibe from this game, old school RE.

Oh, and there are moments in Until Dawn where you literally cannot move. I actually held my breath in these scenarios because the slightest vibration of the controller can spell death. Probably the only real issue I had with the game is that these parts are overly sensitive. The slightest fucking vibration on your controller = death.

Sometimes the game even fucks with you, and prompts you to do something...and if you do it you die.

Alongside Duke Nukem Advance, the GBA port of Silent Scope.

You may be thinking how can a game like that play on a portable? It can be done!

Presentation is laid out just like the DC version. All the modes are present too. There's even a special story mode exclusive to the GBA!

The only real problem, as you might have guessed, is the small screen and enemies that are hard to see. Also, some of the arcade story elements were cut out (highway chase, parachuting into the enemy base). It is still surprisingly good.

I'm hearing it's a solid 7, which is more than I expected from a game based off a movie franchise, but still not something I'm gonna pay $60 for. It'll probably be one of those games I'll buy in the PS4's twilight years for $7.50, and discover I love it.

I hope to see it get better, but first impressions aren't that great.

I believe it. It is incredibly easy to mess up Mad Max. Mad Max has never really been the main character of the films titled after him. They are about other characters and worlds crafted with insane ideologies. He is a character thrust in situations beyond his control and he merely reacts to them.

A sandbox game is hard to lend itself to that style, as you have the freedom to do what you want. Sometimes not being given a choice makes for a more compelling and interesting experience and with Mad Max that is even more so the case. Make a game true to the character first and then make an experimental trip into the world.

I haven't played it though, so I don't know.
