I'm still on the fence if I want to play my Segas on native resolution (RGB Scart) or go the xrgb mini route.
But, im still curious to know how are the improvements going from S Video to RGB Scart on the Saturn?
I looked online, and found a few threads. But I was trying to see if anyone had pictures with a side-by-side comparing the two?
I found a YouTube video, but literally saw no improvements.
I'm just trying to see if it is worth it. If it is, I might go for it, as I think I can probably use the same Scart to Component box.

Re: Sega Saturn's S Video Vs. RGB Scart?
To be honest personally I didn't notice that much of a difference (if any) between the two.sp957 wrote:But, im still curious to know how are the improvements going from S Video to RGB Scart on the Saturn?
Now granted when I did do (late last year) a bit of a comparison between the two I was only able to test on an Sony LCD TV.
Now I know most retro folks live and die by their beloved scan-lines, but I didn't have my CRT available for this at the time.
But as I say, I really strained to notice much of a difference.

It is really hard to see the improvements that RGB brings with a camera. It has to be seen in person for the full effect. I've done s-video/RGB comparisons with my N64/SNES on Sony PVMs and the difference is noticeable in person.
RGB SCART also has the added benefit of being the cheaper cable at the moment. I got my Saturn SCART cable from consolegoods.uk via eBay. Saturn s-video prices are getting rather crazy.

Re: Sega Saturn's S Video Vs. RGB Scart?
Here's some video cap screens at native resolution I took years ago with an official saturn S-video cable. Notice the bright red and green colors have dots/dithering. While playing those are flickering fast so it's not so noticeable, but RGB would have those smooth and perfect.

Also, not pictured there very well but the ifrit and fish things in the "areas" section show it - any games that use 50% dithering (checkerboard) instead of real transparency have very noticeable color banding/rainbowing with s-video.
