Re: NES Borders?
Thanks for the quick response too. So by blank out do you mean the same background color? Why not just use a black border? Do you know how many games used this "feature"? Huh, the things we overlooked as kids before things got all fancy.

Re: NES Borders?
Ok, are there any tvs out there that don't show the borders? I swear as a kid I didn't see the borders. Maybe they've always been there but as kids we didn't notice/care? Its still not as bad as the SNES vertical line. I know that wasn't there back in the day!

NES Borders?
Hey everybody, I recently acquired a NES again and I've noticed on my Sony Wega CRT that some of the NES games have a border on the left and or right of the screen. For example in SMB the left side of the screen has a blue strip. I guess this is the overscan area? The games were programmed this way ...

Re: SNES Vertical Line Discussion
So every SNES shows these lines? I wonder if its more noticable now because the tech is getting older or the displays are getting better? I don't understand why the SNES has the lines while the Genesis for example doesn't. This tech was released around the same time period, was Nintendo just so chea...

Re: Is there a working Splatter House rom out there?
Ok I got it working from that site, thanks apple. The only thing is that in the intro video with the two characters walking in the woods part of the background is brown. It looks like an upside down L on the left border of the picture. Is it supposed to be this way? I never played the original. This...

Is there a working Splatter House rom out there?
I can't seem to find a working rom of this for MAME. The file always seems to be missing something, at least thats what MAME says. Also any MAME or DosBox recommendations for halloween would be appreciated. Thanks!

Re: SNES Vertical Line Discussion
What stumps me is why didn't more people notice this line back in the SNES heyday? Where the tvs so bad back then that it just wasn't noticable? Or is it just the fact that stuff degrades over time? Or maybe Nintendo brainwashed everybody so we wouldn't notice the line

Re: SNES Vertical Line Discussion
I have also tried the SNES on RF and I could still see the line, no better or worse than S-Video. I've tried my system on a flat screen CRT, several old tube tvs with just antenna connections, and on a LCD HDTV. The line appears on all of them, no better and no worse. I think this rules out the type...
