Re: Portable MP3 player suggestions
An old iPod with Rockbox loaded on it is a good choice too.

Converting Japanese copies of Chrono Trigger and FFV
I just got a few Super Fami games today and included in the lot were Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy V. I'd like to convert these to have English ROMs but I keep finding conflicting information about what EEPROMs I need. IIRC Chrono Trigger needs a 29F032 but I could be wrong on that. I plan on usi...

Re: Second Generation Appreciation Thread
I'm no hardware expert by ANY means, but from my own various hardware difficulties over the years, my guess would be that your 2600 issue is going to be that an A/V chip on the motherboard died. 7800 definitely sounds like a loose wire to me. The 2600 has no video encoder and the 7800 doesn't have ...

@ noise - No game carts with your C64? Plug it in the big screen (has Composite and SVideo option) before you sell it, an untapped huge library of video "console" games to discover. Throw in tons and tons of floppies of unique obscure games and 2600 controller compatibility. the whole rea...

Nothing a CF-to-SCSI adapter can't fix.

Generally the CPU has nothing to do with graphics capabilities.

Re: Non-PC retro computer gaming thread
I have crafted a 20 game Want List, all stuff I can afford. I only have a 64K MSX1 so that disqualifies a bunch of games right off the bat anyway. Have you looked into getting an MSX2 or 2+? There's some pretty cool stuff for the MSX2 and it's pretty easy to make floppies if you've got a PC with a ...

Re: Non-PC retro computer gaming thread
This year I'd like to focus mostly on the MSX, picking up some old Falcom carts and whatnot. These past few years have been really bad for collecting MSX carts honestly, the European resellers have caused prices to go through the roof big time, especially for Konami games. Last year I sold off all ...
