yeah, try out Protector SE for the Atari Jaguar, its a sick Defender clone, and i liked it better. It involves saving humans and the other ships kidnap them and pick them up off of the ground, it has weapon upgrades and is very fast.

Protector SE is a 2002 Atari Jaguar release by the way.

I miss my Jaguar now, aahhhh, and Protector SE is one of the all time greats that nobody knows about.

this link below is from the original Protector (non SE) which was released in 1999

Overkill on Amiga (CD32 only? Probably also on floppy based systems).

This isn't very accessible for people to play, but I'm sharing the info nonetheless.

EDIT:

Here is a review. It's a really decent game, if anyone has the means to try it (emulate it on WinUAE, perhaps).
It's actually one of my (few) CD32 games, but apparently (as I thought) there is a A1200 floppy version as well.

Ivo.

Fantasy Zone on the Master System and Arcade instantly came to mind when I played defender.

Kinda of a more stage/boss based defender, on serious 80's Sega brand acid.
