This all reminds me of how my mom used to cut the commercials out of our VHS tapes. Disney tapes were the worst, they'd have literally 10-20 minutes of stuff before the movie.

On topic, I have no issue with removing anything from a game, as long as you own it. It's no different than removing parts of a VHS tape you don't want to see.

Actually after thinking things through I managed to come up with a rather complicated workaround for that tool not cooperating and managed to remove the intro from Emerald Dragon.

In short, translated Emerald Dragon ROM stripped of custom intro is now also available for interested parties. PM me with you email and I'll send you a zip.

Let me know if there are other titles that need some intro stripping.

Cheers

I actually like those intros. The opening screen of the Final Fantasy VI re-translation is especially nice.

Not for emerald dragon. If you attempt to make a repro cart with it, it forces you to stare at a blank screen for a minute before you can play it.

Personally, I think removing ALL credit (if all the translator credit is in the intro-splash) is bad for repro makers.
Might be good for repro players (hobbyists who make carts for play themselves), but still, removing credit where credit is due sounds like cheating.

Coming from someone who's had a hand in fan translation projects, I find this practice of removing the splash screen to be kind of sleazy. Especially since most translation projects put it there for this very purpose; to tell repro buyers that their using an unofficial translation and that they need to be aware of that.

Maybe re-creating the splash screen to look more classy would be more....respectable choice. Though out right removing the person/teams credit is untasteful.

Maybe putting the translation team's name somewhere on the label if it needs to be removed from the rom itself would be a nice compromise?

For a repro one is selling or their own cart?

Cracktros have a long and distinguished history. I'm guessing the translator credits you're talking about are similar. Leave them alone.

One being sold I guess. Your own cart it doesn't really matter.
