Moon Chronicles:3DS FPS (All Episodes Now Out)

Post by Jagosaurus »

I'll be using this thread to update my experience with the game & to let those interested know episode release dates :)

_____________

Finally got a firm eshop release date.

Moon Chronicles will be available exclusively via the 3DS eShop on May 15, developer Renegade Kid announced today. I'll be supporting it.

Moon Chronicles is an updated version of the Nintendo DS first-person shooter Moon, complete with enhanced graphics running at 60 frames per second, full 3D, and Circle Pad Pro support...

Moon Chronicles’ initial release next week will be priced at $8.99 for the first of four planned Season 1 episodes, with the additional episodes available at a later date as $1.99 DL...

While Season 1 is essentially a remake of Moon for DS, next year’s planned release of Season 2 is expected to feature all-new gameplay and story content.

IGN lays out Season 1 Details:

Episode 1: $8.99 (contains chapters 1 - 4 + 6 VR Missions: ~4 hours of gameplay).

Episode 2 (as DLC): $1.99 (contains chapters 5 - 8: ~2 hours of gameplay).

Episode 3 (as DLC): $1.99 (contains chapters 9 - 12: ~2 hours of gameplay).

Episode 4 (as DLC): $1.99 (contains chapters 13 - 16: ~2 hours of gameplay).

Renegade Kid hopes to deliver a second season next year that will feature brand new content that takes place after the original game.

UPDATE FOR EPISODE 2

Looks like there's a trailer out for episode 2, Unknown Source. Good to know we're getting it

Also wanted to note these new episodes support the circle pad pro for dual sticks... or the old DS control scheme using stylus to aim (a la Metroid Prime Hunters).

Yeah I was interested in this, until I found out it was episodic.

Yeah, I initially thought the same. Then I heard they were creating "season 2" which will be a new game. From there I was ininterested as I never played the first title. When I heard 60 FPS & circle pad pro support were worked in, I decided to support them

$15 total for the game isn't terrible. This will officially be my 1st purely.digital game. I've DLed maybe 5 retro titles from VC & eshop. This project has my support... although it's tough for me to pinpoint exactly why as I not normally a DLC/digital guy :)

I am not fond of this whole "Season" concept for game releases. Primarily because it leaves many potential cliff hangers for a game in progress. If at any point one of the episodes doesn't sell worth a damn, what's to stop the developer from dropping the "Season" right then and there? Nothing. And then you're left with an unfinished experience. I'm OK with digital downloads that contain an entire game. But episodic digital downloads is where I draw the line.

Good point. In several months if they released all of season 1 in a bundle would you then consider? How about the bundle @ a discounted price?

I might buy the entire season if it was self contained and complete, yeah.

I feel a lot better about that option as well. For $8 I might risk it though.
