An auction I was watching closed at the last minute with the two bids which had been placed being retracted. Sounds fishy. The seller is in Spain, this was his explanation:

El vendedor ha finalizado el anuncio de manera anticipada y ha cancelado todas las pujas.

This is what google translator says, seems pretty readable.
"The seller has completed the advance notice and has canceled all bids."
