I recently bought a sealed copy of Final Fantasy IV on ebay for $15.00. Well, it came in the mail today and it's obviously a fake. (Should've known with the overseas seller and the low price, but oh well...)
I already know that I can probably return the item and get my money back, but a part of me is really curious to rip it open and check out the thing.
Anyone have any idea of the quality of stuff like this? Should I even attempt to play it?

Damn, sorry to hear that
Its all up to you. If you are a collector of games, then i'd say get your money back. If you just wanna have the game to play, then rip it open! Then you can find an original sealed copy again and keep that one sealed.
Does the description of the ebay auction specify that it is indeed original and sealed? If it is, then it is a false auction and you can get the seller in big trouble. if it says anything about being "original" its probably worth a shot.
Also, if you decide to rip it open, and it doesnt play properly, then of course you can get your money back. but if its a pirated copy, and it plays fine (usually the game is flashed on to the cart) then id say its okay. The sucky thing is.... you paid 15 bucks to play in your console, versus free to download the rom and emulator and play it on your pc. Pirated is Pirated, and only worth how much you play it.
Good luck!

Re: Pirated game unintentionally purchased...
I'm guessing it was the DS version of FF IV and came from Hong Kong? There are plenty of those on ebay at the moment. There is even one seller saying they are from Canada, but once bought the game ships from Hong Kong- very dodgy. A lot of pirated stuff comes from Hong Kong, they are well known for it and actually have factories dedicated to these cheap knock offs, previously GBA and now they have started on the DS. There are a couple of reputable Hong Kong sellers though (biz-2.com or something similar if you see that one is reliable). It's a real pain to spot these before buying, but I guess if it comes from overseas and is too cheap to be true then it probably is a fake
