Trying to find the name of an old gaming magazine

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Trying to find the name of an old gaming magazine

Post by StuntDouble »

I used to have a subscription to a gaming magazine back in 89-91 or so. For the life of me, I can't remember what the name of it was though. I thought it was something like Game Players or Video Game Players, but neither of those searches has come up with anything I can place. I do remember that they primarily reviewed nintendo games, with Super Nintendo and Genesis games showing up later on. It wasn't around the same size as the smaller issues of Gamepro, but without the humor. The format tended to be rather simplistic, and the reviews were usually single page, with several screenshots of the game at the top of the page. I know those details may not be much help, but unfortunately that's all I can remember at this point. One of the reviews that sticks out in my mind is Defenders of Dynatron City, because it was rather negative.

Anyone have any ideas on what publication it could be?

Edit:The title of the magazine may have been Video Games, but I can't find any cover images anywhere to check.

I was more of a Nintendo Power fan back in those days. Theres nothing more honest than rating the games you publish and develop.

Digging through my dusty archives for mags from the late 80's to early 90's, would this fit the bill? It matches the name you mentioned and it does have simple one-page reviews. Hope this helps!

khyrox,

Seeing the interior of the magazine, it seems that may be the one I'm looking for. Did they get rid of the white background on the cover in the later issues? If so, then I think I may have subscribed after that point.

Chris - Hmm, actually I'm not sure. I don't have any issues after the one I scanned in above so I can't recall if they changed the color of the cover after that. Wish I could help more!
