X-com is on sale go get it.

Post by raztat »

The X-com series is on sale on steam for 5 bucks. Go get it and have some retro fun. I just played it for the first time and have no idea what the fuck I am doing. Any one know of a good guide I can go by?

Oh man, once you start to 'get' it, though, X-Com is unreal.

Which X-com exactly are you playing? I have manuals for some of them at least. In PDF.

It's absolute bullshit that steam doesn't provide any manuals with these. They need to stop selling incomplete third party products.

Dude, I've played through the original X-Com at least a dozen times. If you have questions, let me know.
Comics, RPG's, miniatures, and now retrogaming? I guess its time to learn to go without eating...

The basics to ufo enemy unknown

When you detect a ufo send an interceptor..then when it's down send in the troops to explore the crash site.

Don't worry too much about the troops in the start of the game they are pretty much just cannon fodder. But it doesnt hurt to save a few times during a mission in case you make a mistake.

If the aliens a terrorizing towns send troops immediately because if you just leave it be there is a high chance that you will loose funding.

Then there is research and base building i usually start by researching laser technology and i find that the laser rifle is a good weapon throughout the game.

Base building wont be that important until a bit later in the game.

Hope that helps a little :D
