Burning Dreamcast Games

Post by PGchris »

I just picked up a dreamcast and a couple games at a yard sale for 25 bucks and I love it, but I really don't know anything about the system. I heard that you can just download games and burn them to a CD-r now, can anyone fill me in on some info about this or point me to a tutorial? Is it easy? are there alot of games available to download?

Since your a Mac user, you should use this tutorial http://www.dchelp.net/index.php?id=mac

The best way to burn Dreamcast games on Mac is use Toast.

wow that was fast...

you know most games you get, are first illegal, but also are prebuilt images that just need to be burned to a disc just like burning ANY disc image. These are labeled as "self boot" disks.

The hard ones are anything that isn't "self boot"... so just avoid those.

In my experience pretty much all the DC burning guides are incredibly outdated. There's no reason to bother with discjuggler, it's really not good for much of anything at this point. I've been using Alcohol 120%, and Nero for a few years now with no problems at all. Just make sure you burn at a low speed.
As for on a mac, I can't imagine that for any reason that Toast would be any different. Just try burning them like any other iso file. At worst you'll be out a cd.
