Mod chip acccident!

Hello, on the troubleshooting page, I posted the comment about the two pins that were connected with solder on accident. Also the pins were touched for an extensive period of time with the soldering iron, so I'm assuming my Saturn's CD drive is dead. I also desoldered the chip and plugged the CD ribbon back in. Also, there's still a tiny bit left inbetween the pins, so could that effect the drive still not working? But since I posted this Topic, I'll ask another question. If the IC pins on the modchip were to touch the metal of the Saturn (which is model 2 by the way) would the mod chip be ruined, and if so, would installing it in a new Saturn effect it? Would it ruin the Saturn?

EDIT: Ok, I realized the pins are kinda burnt, but nothing on the mod chip looks that broken or anything, but somehow could that or the pins touching metal short it or anything, and if it is and install it into another saturn, would it ruin it?

yeah, solder connecting two pins could cause trouble.
do your best to clean it up and it might still be ok.

While I'm not a complete expert on these specifics, I don't think it touching the metal would be a big deal.
And I don't think it would hurt trying the chip on another machine.

Can anybody back me up on this?

You could always part out the broken saturn. And no it wont kill the other saturn should you try to use the mod chip again. if the chip doesnt work on the other saturn then its busted or its the wrong model.

Man, all these mod chip woes on here. I wish I could help. All I know is I bought a saturn model 2 off ebay, and the mod chip worked perfectly since day one. :(

BTW, if the chip doesn't work in a Model2, I can exhange it for a new one.
Just keep that in mind.

Ok, thank you for the advice everyone, I'm more reassured, but I'm still kinda skeptical on installing again. Oh well, when my next saturn arrives, I'll just have to give it another go, this time being more careful.

EDIT: Also, could someone post a working link to the AB method or whatever it's called. I don't believe the one on the installation page works.
