What Should We Add to the Retro Gaming 101 series?

Are there any platforms, obscure or otherwise, that we should have a 101 post for?
Essentially, what platforms have you been curious about, but would like to learn more about?

here's the series if you haven't seen it:

Also, while I'm at it, if anyone if an enthusiast of a console we haven't covered yet and could help flesh out a 101 post (no need for lengthy writing), feel free to volunteer your services :)

NES and SMS are conspicuously absent from that list. Are you assuming we're all familiar with them, and so they don't need a 101 article? The 2600 doesn't get enough attention either IMO.

When will the PS2, GameCube and Xbox be retro? I figure, we're already two years into the life of the average next-gen console (though "next-gen" is now current-gen), so... one year? Two years?

But I'd have to say:

* Playstation 1
* Game Boy
* NES (to agree with everyone else)
* Sega Master System (to agree with everyone else)

And... a special spotlight on the electronic games of Tiger Electronics, like the Game.com, Lights Out, et al.

Perhaps it could use some Odyssey and Odyssey 2 lovin. If I can work up the energy this weekend I just might try my hand at a Retro 101 article for one or both of them.

I would 2nd the odyssey systems. Maybe a Jaguar/Jag-CD one, a 32X one would be cool to round out the sega systems after sms, Virtual Boy would be another interesting one to read. NES is a given also.

IDK about the Odyssey systems (cuz I know next to nothing about them), but... I totally agree with everything else.

NES and SMS look like definite must haves. I'm actually kinda surprised nobody's interested in the Atari 2600. In general we don't give Atari much love on this website, which is a real shame.

The 3do would be a nice addition. We'd just have to find someone who likes the thing enough to write an essay on it. ;P
