A Good Deal?

Post by Elwood »

After a bit of Ebay browsing and impulse buying, I bought a Sega Genesis and some games.

At the cost of 46 dollars (this includes shipping), I'll be receiving :
The Genesis, with all the wires and one controller.
Sonic the Hedgehog 2
Sonic Spinball
Steel Empire
Dynamite Headdy
Rocket Knight Adventures

Good deal?
I wanted to be a Teminator but they require you have an armored hyperalloy skeleton and mine's mostly recycled truck tires.

If you mean as far as deals go, no. They're pretty much all common games. I guess it depends on where you live but I see Genesis systems & games going for a lot less either on Craigslist or at yard sales or the like.
I have a ton of games listed at my store's site: Super Smash Video Games

Just curious, which model of genesis? Personall I have two model 2's but I love the model 1, it's the one i grew up with and I'll eventually get another.

And does it come with an av cable or just an rf? Are any of the games complete? Six button controllers?

If you answered yes to these questions, then I'd say yes. Decent deal. I've seen most of the items at thrift stores (except steel empire), and if you'd pieced it toghether you could have saved some cash. Also I see alot of these deals on craigslist that go for around 20 and you could probably do a bit of bartering. Oh well, still some good titles and a system that should be tested and working.

Steel Empire is a good game, very easy to play and enjoyable shmup.

No to the av cable or 6 button controllers, but Sonic 2 and Spinball come with their cases (and possibly manuals). Model 2 Genesis. Maybe not the finest deal, but not bad.

Dynamite Headdy is a crazy game. I remember reading about it in some really old gaming mag (the same one that introduced me to Shining Force II), and it looked really weird. Had a chance to try it out a few years later, and it's a really interesting platformer. The head mechanic is a nice change of pace.

And people don't give Sonic Spinball enough credit. Aside from the evilness of level 4, it's a pretty decent pinball-style game.

It wasn't a deal, but you weren't ripped off. Nothing too shabby about picking up a Genesis... hopefully the controllers don't look too messed up. The last few consoles I've seen for sale have had the grubbiest looking controllers for some reason.
