Hey everyone. Long time visitor of the site, never needed to post until now.

Recently bought a new samsung plasma set. I decided to dust off the ol' dreamcast because I've had the VGA adapter box for the dreamcast when i used to use it with my PC monitor and wanted to check out the system with better resolution.

Anyway, I set up the VGA adapter and hooked it up to my TV, but no results. It just gives me the blue screen and says no signal is detected. To make sure the plug on the set worked I hooked up my laptop to the tv and it worked fine, so i know the vga plug works on the tv set.

has anyone had any problems like this, and if so, is it fixable. Is the samsung tv set compatible with the dreamcast VGa adapter. thanks for any responces, and if i left out any info that might help figure out the problem, just let me know.

by the way, the Samsung tv model is Sam htp4254.

Sometimes you need to force the TV into the resolution of the VGA box.

Check your manual about changing the input resolution (the final resolution will be 720p because it has to be scaled since Plasma is a fixed resolution display). Go in and set the input resolution to 640X480.

i have the same setup. i got the vga box to work by turning on the dreamcast before the tv and for some reason it worked from then on.

that probably worked because it forced the TV into the operating mode of the Dreamcast.

it works!

ok guys got it working after some tinkering, heres what i did for anyone in the same problem..

First i took lordofduct's advice and tried adjusting the screen resolution. I Looked online to see if i could manually adjust the screen resolution. This TV sets it depending on the source, so i was really hoping my set was compatible.

So then I tried what float suggested. Still nothing. So i took the svga cable off my current PC and hooked it up. Turned the DC on first, then the TV, and it worked. Was really surprised, because i really didn't think there was a difference in VGA cables. I looked at the plugs, and noticed the pins are a little different. Anyways that little trick worked.

I must say the DC looks so great. I mean I've had it set up on my PC monitor; however, seeing it on my 42 inch HD plasma set makes me feel like im in the arcades. This is one of the best systems ever made. I love it. This was the first sega system i ever owned (was a Nintendo fanboy) but the work sega put into the system is great.

Anyway off my rant, and thanks for the help guys, I don't know if i ever would of gotten it without the little tips.
