Wait…wut?! How did that come about?

Exact same thing happened in 2008 or so when she came home with a Wii.

If you get PlayStation Plus, get Premium if you want access to game trials and cloud streaming. But if you just want their expansive game catalog (like the Xbox Game Pass, more or less) and access to Ubisoft+ Classics, Extra will suffice if game trials and cloud streaming aren't worth an extra three bucks a month.

Oh, and if you like first-person puzzle games like Portal, check out Viewfinder.

First new game of the month is L.O.L. Lack of Love for the Dreamcast, an interesting slow paced sort of life simulation evolution game.

Unfortunately it is missing the manual, but it was sold cheaply because of it. It's one I have wanted for years

Let me know on the TMNT arcade game. I’m intrigued, but the reviews are mixed. I may just get a digital copy <gasp!> on sale if it’s just an OK game.

I’m not tracking my purchases on here this year, but I did pick up some intriguing games recently:

Psychic Force 2012 (Dreamcast)
Sky Destroyer (Famicom)
Brandish 2: The Planet Buster (Super Famicom)
The Firemen (Super Famicom)
Tear Ring Saga (PS1)
Class of Heroes 1 & 2 Complete (Switch)
Star Wars Heritage Pack (Switch)

The most interesting of these is probably Tear Ring Saga, which is basically a missing 32-bit Fire Emblem game. It was designed by Shouzou Kaga, Fire Emblem’s creator, and features art by Mayumi Hirota, who also worked Fire Emblem: Thracia 776. The original title was Emblem Saga, and Nintendo sued to stop the game’s release. The developer changed the game’s name and ultimately prevailed, however, establishing a precedent that would make Japanese game designers more comfortable moving from one company to another and designing “spiritual successors” to their previous games.

The other interesting acquisition is Star Wars Heritage Pack on the Switch. The collection includes seven games: Episode I Racer, Force Unleashed, Jedi Academy, Jedi Knight II, KOTOR, KOTOR II, and Republic Commando. Only five of these are on the game card, and KOTOR and KOTOR II must be downloaded. I’m OK with that, though, because: (1) I already have KOTOR and KOTOR II; (2) the game still would have been one of the very best retro game collections even if it contained only five games; and (3) it was on sale for $39.99, making it too good of a deal to resist.

+1

My son is really into TMNT at the moment and loves Shredder's Revenge and Turtles in Time. He was looking forward to this one and wants me to pick it up so we have another TMNT game we can play through together.

Hey snap! I don't know if you saw, but I also picked it up the other month (although I got the PAL version).

It's a really interesting and fun game. What do you think of it?
