Moving Saves From Original Xbox (oXbox) to 360 - Help Needed
So exactly like the title says, I'm trying to move over my saves from my oXbox to my 360 for some compatible games, notably Doom 3 and Halo CE.
I've gone as far as getting the saves off the oXbox (which you can do via FTP on softmod or via USB with controller port adapter on non modded). So Doom 3 and Halo CE saves are on a USB formatted for oXbox on what we'll call USB A.
I then have a second USB which we'll call USB B. I plugged USB B into my 360 and formatted it (not the same format as oXbox). You can now natively see this drive with your Windows PC (no need for a third party program such as XTAF later in the 360 life cycle).
Back to USB A: I plug it into my PC and use XPlorer 360 app to view oXbox saves and move the files from USB A (oXbox formatted) to USB B (360 formatted).
From here I was thinking I could just plug USB B into my 360, and it would see the oXbox saves files which I could move to 360 HDD. No dice. The 360 still sees USB B but doesn't show any files. I even tried creating directories to match there pre-canned ones.
Thoughts? I feel like I am 90% there and missing a small detail.
Upon Googling, I could really only find this one reddit thread where there were ideas close to what I am trying here but no hard evidence.
EDIT/ADD 1:
Okay, I had what I thought was a good idea. If I moved a test oXbox save file from my 360 HDD to USB B, I assumed it would create the proper directory for me on the USB. I could then replace the file inside with data from USB A/oXbox data. Nope. I only get the option to transfer 360 data. My new oXbox saves (not the files I am looking to transfer) I made on my 360 recently do not show up as allowable for transfer. They are not available to select. Back to the drawing board.
Is this even doable?
EDIT/ADD 2:
Tomorrow I will try moving over a 360 save (vs oXbox) and see what directory it creates. I already put everything up
. Not sure why I didn't think of that. I don't have high hopes though. Any help appreciate.
EDIT/ADD 3 - THE FINAL NOTE
Feel free to keep reading my tries below but I found official word from MS that this not doable. Boo. Link provided a few posts down.
