Moving Saves From Original Xbox (oXbox) to 360 - Help Needed

So exactly like the title says, I'm trying to move over my saves from my oXbox to my 360 for some compatible games, notably Doom 3 and Halo CE.

I've gone as far as getting the saves off the oXbox (which you can do via FTP on softmod or via USB with controller port adapter on non modded). So Doom 3 and Halo CE saves are on a USB formatted for oXbox on what we'll call USB A.

I then have a second USB which we'll call USB B. I plugged USB B into my 360 and formatted it (not the same format as oXbox). You can now natively see this drive with your Windows PC (no need for a third party program such as XTAF later in the 360 life cycle).

Back to USB A: I plug it into my PC and use XPlorer 360 app to view oXbox saves and move the files from USB A (oXbox formatted) to USB B (360 formatted).

From here I was thinking I could just plug USB B into my 360, and it would see the oXbox saves files which I could move to 360 HDD. No dice. The 360 still sees USB B but doesn't show any files. I even tried creating directories to match there pre-canned ones.

Thoughts? I feel like I am 90% there and missing a small detail.

Upon Googling, I could really only find this one reddit thread where there were ideas close to what I am trying here but no hard evidence.

EDIT/ADD 1:

Okay, I had what I thought was a good idea. If I moved a test oXbox save file from my 360 HDD to USB B, I assumed it would create the proper directory for me on the USB. I could then replace the file inside with data from USB A/oXbox data. Nope. I only get the option to transfer 360 data. My new oXbox saves (not the files I am looking to transfer) I made on my 360 recently do not show up as allowable for transfer. They are not available to select. Back to the drawing board.

Is this even doable?

EDIT/ADD 2:

Tomorrow I will try moving over a 360 save (vs oXbox) and see what directory it creates. I already put everything up  . Not sure why I didn't think of that. I don't have high hopes though. Any help appreciate.

EDIT/ADD 3 - THE FINAL NOTE
Feel free to keep reading my tries below but I found official word from MS that this not doable. Boo. Link provided a few posts down.

Well... the adventure continues

I just plugged USB B into my 360 and moved over a save file to it for Dead Space 2 on 360. When I go into the 360 file explorer, I can see the save file on there. It also shows some up the memory used. When I plug USB B into my PC, I cannot see this file. Looks like it is meant to only be seen between 360s? Essentially, seems this method is designed with 360 save file back up and transfer in mind.

I need to dig further into simply getting 360 saves off a 360. That might lead me in the right direction as to hidden directories on the USB, but again no guarantees. I might need to use a third part app such as XTAF after all.

Also, after some additional testing, the 360 does not give you any options to move, copy, etc oXbox saves. You can only delete them which isn't promising. It does readily give you these options for 360 saves. If you can't move these oXbox save files between 360s with no work arounds, I find it unlikely I can move them from an oXbox to a 360 directly. Also, there just isn't anything on the web about it. I know it is nitch but I figured there would have been a decent amount of folks wanting to transfer their Halo CE and Halo 2 files over upon the 360 launch.

Can anyone confirm that when you transfer 360 HDD data to a new HDD, you don't lose the oXbox saves on the console? This may be supported between HDDs, just not over USB.

Although it I doubt it matters, I am working with an Original Xbox Console (revision 1.3, June 2003) and a 360 E 250 GB.

Also, this isn't a deal breaker. I can play Doom 3 and Halo CE directly off my modded oXbox HDD. I was expecting this to take me 30 mins tops, but now I am a bit determined to figure it out after a few failed attempts

I have used the official xbox hard drive transfer cable to extract all of the data from one xbox 360 hard drive to another. It successfully transferred all the avatars, saves, apps, games games, themes and other DLC-type-stuff. No problems there.
I have never attempted to extract Original Xbox data to a 360, so I can't help there. I've often heard of using those utilities for PC which can read the Xbox 360 hard drive format, but haven't used one in explorer mode before. That does seem to be the way to do it, at least for systems which have been modified to run homebrew etc. The guides explained how to move Xbox games, homebrew and other data to xbox 360, tho I don't recall the details.

True. 360 might need to be modded, but even then you'd think it would come up on a Google search. With all the Halo 1 & 2 fans, surprised there isn't more out there on this.

The Xplorer 360 PC app works great for modded oXbox needs but no luck in this scenario. Hoping XTAF does that trick but not too optimistic. Haven't had a chance to test it yet.

Well, unfortunately here's our answer from Microsoft. Maybe it's doable on a modded 360 but not stock.

Game saves from an original Xbox console can’t be transferred to an Xbox 360 console.
