Bricked R4 clone

Okay, so I know this thing is a cheap POS, but I would like to bring it back to life if at all possible.

This is what I have:

I have a couple better flash cards, but like a few spares that I can lend my less careful gaming nephews.

So yeah, I bricked this thing some time back doing an update of the firmware. I thought it would increase compatibility or something, but had very much the opposite effect. The card is no longer recognized at all.

I've been trying to reflash it via another crappy card (a DSTT). All seems to go right, I can load up the update option (same program that the website I linked offered), I can swap cards, and I see the erase and then % progress. Update finishes, but when I try to load that card, nothing.

I'm really out of ideas at this point. I not out much by way of cost, but I just can't bring myself to throw the thing away. Part of me thinks I might just stumble across a fix for it someday.

Any suggestions?

If flashed with the right firmware, it's supposed to respond and fix itself. There are a *lot* of firmwares!

Reading at the bottom:
"If your R4 is a R4 Clone than YSmenu and Moonshell2 for R4 will definitely work for you. If your R4 is a Acekard clone than only YSmenu will work for it. If your R4 is a DSTT clone than YSmenu and Moonshell2 for DSTT will work for it."

Sounds like you have to find the right one, because your card is one of many clones and may not even be an R4 clone.

It appears that the YSmenu will work in any case. But then there's the trick of finding what version of that menu.

I'll make a 3rd round of experimenting with an update soon.

Edited for weird auto-corrects.
