Not the best, but decent, just frustrating that the twinstick was only available in two player mode, hence that workaround for single player. A slow plodding drive then tatical position to gun down the enemy tanks. Later levels get more difficult having to shoot while driving.
Many hate the Dreamcast/PC game by Rockstar
Wild Metal, but I love it! Many hills have to be tackled at angles adding to the think ahead before driving. This would frustrate many thinking the game is too slow. The best part is setting the gun as in
Scorched Earth getting the angle on the fly just right to volley the artillery at the enemy over the hill.
The PC version is FREEWARE! Reviewed the game quite some time ago.

Speaking of Dreamcast, there is the exclusive home version of the arcade
Alien Front Online and only released in the US, though the online no longer works. No problem, a lot of single player levels though only three "arenas". Look for the hidden progress mode in the
TACTICS section to see additional levels, even drive the Alien walker for a neat effect. New maps including a snow field and going to battle on the Alien world.

No twinstick control, but a novel approach the way the triggers rotate the tank adding to the throttle of the analog stick.
Unlike the PS2 pressure sensitive trigger buttons, Dreamcast triggers are true analog for precise turns of the tank. An exact control how far to turn the tank from zero to ninety degree angles.Wiki wrote:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alien_Front_Online
Alien Front Online came out six months after Sega officially stopped supporting the Dreamcast. Shortly after the game's release, Sega moved from free online servers used to play the game to a pay model causing a tremendous shrinkage in the player base.
Alien Front Online was originally slated for release in Japan, but was cancelled.
