i know there's a sega forum but you guys read this more anyway.
i put a mod chip in recently and everything was going just fine for about 3 weeks or so, then the discs just quit spinning. i'm guessing that the power wire came out of the solder point. anybody else have this issue? what was the problem/how'd you fix it?

actually this is better suited for the technical help forum which gets viewed by a good deal of us all the time. Including myself.
The issue sounds like either A the power line slid out or B the chip isn't seated fully. Just take it apart and check the chip is pushed down all the way and the power line is connected properly.

really weird because just a min ago while testing some games my sat died too. Sucks I was really excited to play some of these games finally.
I got the system off this board and been so busy working I shelved the saturn until just recently and finally started testing games today and it dies. =/
Hopefully it's something I can fix with some of your help. =)
EDIT: Upon further reflection, I was in the process of changing a disc and it was still spinning when I took it out and I did hear a little abnormal sound but didn't pay any attention to it since I was rushing to check my food. Dammit, I probably burned something out. And it's Japanese so what are my chances of finding parts? =/

Indeed it is Chipped, not sure what kind exactly.
God I'm a nerd, this is almost bring me to tears. I got all the discs and images then read all afternoon finding the right program. After a few coasters I finally got it working and went to work, my friday. Relaxing saturn weekend ahead, but no. I had to learn the hard way not to ever open the tray and fondle the disc while the cd is still spinning. omg!@#*$ Dammit.
Anyway I'm convinced I burned something out in my saturn sounded like it was the cd rom drive. I suspect that's the case since the system still boots up but it's not the fractured animated boot screen but a stagnant one that goes straight to the cd player which of course doesn't work.
Now that the reality of what happened is setting in and I know I can't play my Saturn if I wanted too is really depressing.

there's something prolly going on with the power wire of it. prolly not letting the voltage thru or someshit.

i doubt you fucked the drive up. i used to do the swaptrick alot and it didnt hurt my saturn. it is more than likely a chip issue

Well I'm worried because I heard a sound that didn't sound too good and immediately afterward the system stopped working properly.
Can anyone link a good tut on Saturn repairs? ie components and where things are internally. Would be helpful to look at before taking anything apart.
