Any of you get a little OCD about certain things in games

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Any of you get a little OCD about certain things in games

Post by Gamerforlife »

Like maybe you must grab every ring in a Sonic game. Or you must wipe out every single enemy dot in an RTS. Maybe you have to always re-organize items in your inventory in an rpg. Perhaps you must end every fight with a super move when playing the computer in fighting games. Or maybe you just obsess over achievements in Xbox 360 games. I'm just throwing some ideas out there.

Was watching Monk and it got me thinking about this. Cool show by the way. More fun than the tons of other generic cop/detective shows on tv.

I get pretty OCD about certain things in rpgs. I wasn't happy with my save on FF X until I had completely maxed EVERY stat for EVERY character. I'm like that with any game that has multiple characters. I have maxed out every character in every single Dynasty Warriors game I've played.

Basically, this is just a fun thread to show us all how weird you are :)

I do silly little things like that in the games, but I'm worse for having to have my games organised in just the right way on the shelf.

The only way to deactivate the ray beam and fight back the vampire alien threat is with a complicated series of foot patterns on the device's control board that looks remarkably like a DDR pad. We will all praise this man for saving our lives and buy him a mountain of stuffed animals.

Uh oh, now I know I am wierd...I have actually restarted games just because I've missed one not important thing...if its in the game, and obtainable, I must have it for me to say I have beaten the game.

Needless to say, if you ask me how many games I've beaten like this, its pretty low. Like 50...

The most annoying thing to me is when current gen games have you defeat an enemy, and then you reenter the room and its alive again...WTH?

Am I the only one who is this insane about completion? Help me feel better, lol.

I'm not totally OCD, but if I start missing one too many things in an RPG, I start thinking about restarting or just quitting forever. Finishing the game just isn't an option.

I HAVE to organise my inventory in resi games. It's half the fun of the game!

I have all my games organised in system-alphabetical order. I have bookshelves full of game cases. It drives my fiancee crazy. It's practically wall to wall of video games.

I don't think 100 percenting games is an ocd thing. It's more of a challenge. I don't class a game complete until it's 100%. It pisses me off when people go 'i've completed X game' and when I ask them about a certain thing they just go 'oh I didn't do that'. I just feel like saying that they haven't completed the game.

You wouldn't play a game like oblivion and do the main quest in 15 hours and say you've comped the game (which is perfectly doable on your first time through). There's just so much to do in a game like that.

I have to get every last ring in the Sonic the Hedgehog games. Even if it's in a deadly area, I have to get it.

Also, those old "Place a health item where the player will die if he gets it" tricks, I always fall for those the first time. The other times, I'm shaking trying not to get that pizza, bolt, power-up, etc.

I have to explore every room of a dungeon before moving on to the next floor, or moving on to another room that has other choices.

During cut scenes/fmvs/ending credits I have a strong urge to press start just to see if it can be skipped. Of course its frustrating when it does skip the scene/ending since it means I will have to reset and redo some of the game.

Also went through a period where I would have to do the Street Fighter fireball motion every time I would pick up a joypad. And also same thing again with the SF2 Snes cheat.

I am really not like that. The only thing that comes close is making sure I go through every part of every map in games like Diablo, Champions of Norrath etc. This isn't to say I got every item, but I didn't beat that level until I knew there wasn't anymore money to be made on dropped items. Most games I just beat and move on as i have too big a back-catalog to care.
