Broken NES Top Loader
Broken NES Top Loader
Any body know where I can get parts for it, or know what the problems 1 might have. I don't have it yet, it's in a near by store, what's a good price for 1?
Depends on how it's broken, and how much it might cost to repair. If it's the cartridge connector, I'm pretty sure those are cheap and easy to replace. A quick Google search will show you some places to order parts. Going rate for a U.S. top-loading NES is about...$80, I think? Be aware that U.S. units only feature RF output. Personally, I prefer the RCA video output on my $ 20 Famicom clone, but it's not 100% compatible with all software.
It's been said that the ideal hardware NES experience is a Japanese top-loading Famicom with a U.S.-cartridge adapter. Consider what your goals are and how much you're willing to spend to achieve them. If you really want to play games on it, there might be better alternatives out there. But if you just want it because it's a collectable, then by all means, go for it.
Good luck!

"Oh, no, not in Utica, no. It's an Albany expression."
If you can determine the problem and it happens to be the RF output, there is a method of modding the system to have AV outputs. AV is so much better than RF, even with an original RF adapter.
