List of NES games that were ported to original Gameboy/GBC?

Post by ninjainspandex »

Is there a list of NES games that were ported to GB/GBC? I know most had to be tweaked a bit to work on the old GB like Donkey Kong Land, Duck Tales ect but are all quite good and worth collecting.

Super Mario Bros.
Dragon Warrior I, II, III
Crystalis

Can't think of anymore. Dunno if there is a list officially.

Darkwing Duck
Duck Tales
Duck Tales 2
The Little Mermaid
Talespin

There are also a lot of games that were ported to both the NES and Gameboy (like 1942, Ghosts 'n Goblins, Snow Bros., etc.), but you probably do not want to include those.

EDIT: Wisdom Tree also ported a lot of its games to the Gameboy; so...

Exodus: Journey to the Promised Land
Joshua & the Battle of Jericho
Spiritual Warfare

Micro Machines
(possibly RC Pro Am and Super Off Road, depending on how much was changed)

There are also some other puzzle games that have not been listed (and there are probably more):
Yoshi
Yoshi's cookie
Tetris 2

not sure if Tetris counts

Galaga was ported right?
As was Rampart?
Not sure if the Adventure Island games were different.

Zelda and Final Fantasy...
Oh wait, I just WISH those were ported to original Game Boy  . At least Zelda got ported to GBA, along with a remake of FF.

I almost want to say a couple of the Mega Man games, but I know they are quite different than the NES outings.
...just another lost soul...

Not sure the arcade ones are all analogous to the NES versions. I know Spy Hunter isn't anyway. GBC port of that is pretty nice, better than the GBA one!

SMB Deluxe is so much more than a port, I wish they would put this much care and extras into all their ventures.

I always wondered why the GBA NES classic series didn't have the extras that SMB deluxe had, Nintendo is so lazy sometimes

The Crystalis port really isn't, it's a remix almost as they heavily changed certain things like the entire soundtrack for one. Same can kind of be said for Mega Man as it's screwy as they took half the robots of one game, and half from the sequel and stuffed the characters into one game like MM2 GB is 50/50 MM2 and MM3, and only MM5 is unique to the system.

I'm curious why that 1942 and GnG aren't worth mentioning. They basically took the NES visuals, scaled them to the GBC screen and recoded the game to work on there as they basically behave the same. 1942 only works on GBC while GnG is a black shell and works on any GB.

Lemmings I remember made it to the GB as did Qix and they're pretty solid a far as GB games go.

GBC is better? I had bought the Spy Hunter/Super Sprint GBA, CIB and sealed, and found out how terrible Spy Hunter was, and I ended up selling it

I'd like to see a few more games that did end up getting good ports on the GBC.

How about Deja Vu 1 & 2? That included the sequel that went unreleased on the NES.
