Purchased a used 32x in like new condition off eBay. Installed it on my model 1 and plugged everything up accordingly. When I power on I head a typical popping noise from the tv when it recognizes a video game console. After that, nothing. Just a black screen that starts off light black and then after a few seconds goes all black.
The 32x contacts are in amazing condition and I've already cleaned them with alcohol and a swap. The genesis itself plays games fine so I know it's not that.
Any help would be greatly appreciated I'm dying to play it.
32x problem
Re: 32x problem
Follow this repair guide.
With my 32X I need to open it up and take out/put back in the flat cables PRETTY MUCH every time I use it.

Re: 32x problem
Unfortunately, I've tried that multiple times today. No difference was made. Do you have any other recommendations?
Re: 32x problem
Just to double check.
1. Both systems have the correct power cable running two them (10V DC, 0.8a)?
2. You have the link cable running from the output of the genesis, to the input on the 32X and the av cable running from the 32x to your TV.
Try playing Genesis games and see if you get output, I often find no issues running my Genny games, but the 32X ones I need to "fiddle" with the system (generally I need to remove the 32X, and firmly push it down, then the cart firmly into the 32X, most times I use it).

Re: 32x problem
Thanks for the help. It won't recognize any games whatsoever. Also both power supplies are matched. Also the link cables are correctly inserted aswell. When I power on the tv goes from static to a black screen so I'm pretty sure it's being recognized.
Re: 32x problem
It sounds like you're best bet is just trying to find a new 32X if you really want to play those games?

Re: 32x problem
I luckily have two on the way. Do you think it's a broken internal component?
Re: 32x problem
You could try cleaning the ribbon cables' contacts with some alcohol.

Re: 32x problem
I pulled them out and re seated them in their ports. Also the system is in brand new condition. I just don't understand how it won't work. The contacts look factory new.
Re: 32x problem
You can't go by looks alone. I've had, multiple times now, contacts that looked clean but turned out to be the problem.
