2 years later, Kid Icarus: Uprising? 3DS

Kid Icarus: Uprising released a little over 2 years ago now. It came out during a time when the 3DS had very few to no games at all that were worth playing. Normally, I'd jump on a Nintendo created game that attained the generally positive feedback that Icarus received, but I can't help but think that because of everything surrounding its release, (slow system, no games) the game was praised more so than was deserved.
The controls are what worry me the most. Is this a game worth owning for the 3DS? I've been eyeing it for some time, but never has it fully captured my attention. With a clearer mind that hindsight allows, what is the general consensus of Kid Icarus: Uprising now that it is on a system with several incredible, well controlled games?

It's still in my top 3 games for the system. Easily. Very possibly my favourite game on the console.
The thing is, the controls really, really are hit or miss (especially for left handers!). I found them to work fine (although they did cause my hand to go numb during longer play sessions) whereas other people hated them.
If you've ever played Metroid Prime Hunters on DS, that's a reaosnably similar game to control. That might help you decide.

It's a quality game and I was going through a funk and didn't even finish it back then but only went to the half way point and did the rest over a year later. It still held up over that gap, but you are right the controls can be an issue. It gets very painful after awhile because it stains the tendons on the back of your drawing hand trying to slash all over moving the targeting reticle over the enemies. I found depending how much I could take I could do a couple stages or a bit more before it got to where I'd just have to stop which made me wish they'd have not pulled their classic forced stylus bs and had a dual sticks or dual sticks/4 face buttons control to move and aim since the top button fires.

I enjoyed it at first, but I found the controls too awkward to be honest, so I never really got into it.

It's a really fun game but the controls do hold it back, and that's not something you'll hear me say very much. They work well but it's just too damn uncomfortable to play for more than an hour for me. I finished the game eventually and I'd say it's worth $20 if you can find it around there.
If a hypothetical Wii U version was ever made with dual analog control and/or Wiimote pointer controls I'd gladly rebuy and replay it.

I love the collective "meh" of responses. I think it is a game worth having, but once the 3DS reach the end of its lifespan. By then, it should be a $15 or so game.

I think the game would have been better, had they figured a better controller layout, btw if your thinking of buying it used, make sure it comes with the 3DS stand because you will need it.

Uprising would have been a lot better as a strait-up rail shooter.

I don'f hear people saying "meh" more like its a good/fun game but the controls aren't the best. They work but hurt your hands after a while.

Many complained Kid Icarus's controls were awkward. This never bothered me. Then again, I'm a weirdo who didn't mind the N64 controller. Make of that what you will…
Honestly I loved Kid Icarus. It made me laugh, the graphics are gorgeous… It's basically an on-rails shooter deserving the same praise reserved for Star Fox or Sin and Punishment. Personally I'd have bought a 3DS just for that game if I'd known how much I'd enjoy it.
If you can somehow test it out first to see if you like it before buying a copy, I'd do so.
