Playing through the series right now. Is there any DLC that is must have for these games?

Awakening for 3 is pretty much the epilogue and continues things.

I recall enjoying the DLC for 2... but can't remember much specifically.

Your mileage could vary I guess. I almost never buy DLC but am such a huge fan of the series I had to check them out.

Be wary that if you go into the online marketplace for Dead Space, you can end up getting free armors and such that pretty much break the game.
