Help Me Remember an Arcade Game
There have been a lot of games in my life that I have tracked down and found based off of feint memories, but this one is the most elusive of all games.
It was an arcade game from the late 80's and had a full qwerty keyboard on it. The keys were gel-like and reminded me of the dice-roller from the boardgame Trouble. The game was in a first person perspective like the old dungeon crawlers and it was a fantasy setting. I honestly can not tell you any more than that though.
This game I remember my brother's playing a lot back in the day in an old arcade in a mall in Sandusky, Ohio. I for the life of me can not remember what it was called.

That and Typing of the Dead are the only two Keyboard arcade games I know of. And it is not Typing of the Dead.noiseredux wrote:Thayer's Quest?

Thayer's Quest it is! The first person perspective was definitely a fault of my memory, but after watching a video of it and looking at that keyboard, it all comes flooding back. Thanks a million Noise for saving this old and feeble brain from complete insanity at trying to find it.
Google failed me, but not here! Man that game was a insane.

No problem, man. I love these sort of goose-chases to help people find obscure games. I always end up learning something. I had never heard of this one myself. Looks interesting. And now you can track down a PC or DVD copy - presumably PC if you want to use a keyboard for authenticity.

Re: Help Me Remember an Arcade Game
Just found out the arcade release was incomplete, missing 2 of the 5 kingdoms you traveled to. It was re-released on CD as Kingdom: the Far Reaches (downloadable on GoG for $5) with the remaining worlds...oh man!noiseredux wrote:No problem, man. It is also fully playable on Daphne.noiseredux wrote:No problem, man. I love these sort of goose-chases to help people find obscure games. I always end up learning something. You may want to look up The Far Reaches Kingdom as well as its sequel. That is what they called the game when released for PCs back in the day. It changes the names but is the completely story (instead of just the first half) and it is alot cheaper.

Edit:
I see you beat me to finding it on Gog...Ohwell, if you want a better experience, you may want to do this to a junk keyboard:

I realize now that I bought the game on GoG not to long ago and never beat it. I think I will do the same with the keyboard and am going to give it a run tonight.BogusMeatFactory wrote:Oh consider it done! Thanks for the project idea. I am gonna have some fun ripping into an old PoS keyboard!
