Replacement DS Shells

Ok so I gave my nipper my DS to play with the other day and obviously she managed to bust the hinge on the thing. Now I'm looking at the replacement shells and I was wondering if anyone else on here has fitted one, and is it noticable that its not a bona fide bit of nintendo plastic?

I imagine the back won't have the official nintendo ds logo, CE, other warnings and certifications. Not to mention the serial number won't be on there. So it probably would be easy to tell that it's a shell replacement.
Moral of the story, don't lend your DS to children! hehe!

Well this one has all the logos and blurb on the back
Replacement Case
although obviuosly the serial number wont be mine but I was planning on keeping as much of the original case as I could, and just replacing the part that is actually broken, which is the top face of the bottom half of the console. Hopefully I should be able to mate the 2 together and keep my own serial number. Its not the appearance that I'm bothered about, that all seems fine, but the DS feels lovely and smooth and expensive and I would not like to spoil that with a cheap feeling replacement case

You can get a SHOCK! DS Lite case
Here.
I believe there is a site that sells them cheaper. I'll try to find it.

I'd seen these on ebay, although they cost more than that on there obviously.
I like the look of the crome one and the clear one

Oooh. The clear case on there looks awesome. I want to put a clear case mod on my PSP as well. I'd say it doesn't matter what you do when you replace the case as the warranty is gone anyway, and if you come to sell it on, a customized case my increase the value anyway! I'd say go for a snazzy case rather than the bog standard one.

Just saw this review on their site:
"Very difficult to install; definitely not for the faint of heart, or if you have shaky wrists. The plastic and paint aren't as durable as I'd like, and you're replacing your gloss case for a non-gloss case just because of its color. Use extreme caution! both my shock cases have already cracked at the right hinge because the way the DS lite was designed, there's a lot of tension there... super glue the hinge into the top part of the DS, that should reinforce it. Good luck! its a nice mod."

Well that rvery last comment made it sound a bit confused. I'm not bothered about how tricky it might be, I know when to take my time with something rather than break it, but I am concerned with the quality of the plastic not being up to scratch.
Dont know what to do now. I mean the hinge is broken but its not unusable, the lid still opens and closes its just a bit wobbly when in the open position so I could live with it I suppose
