You just need something to convert the signals.

Something like that (not necessarily that one specifically). You also need some speakers. PC Speakers also work, you just need some splitters/couplers/converters to turn them into 3.5mm female jacks.

http://www.pchcables.com/3stplto2rcaj.html in conjunction with http://www.pchcables.com/57230.html would complete the connection. In the case of a model 1 genesis ... no modification is necessary.

Keep in mind if you want to use RF, you need a TV tuner box.

What you're looking for is called a "scan doubler". VGA monitors sync at 31khz. TV monitors sync at 15khz. Unfortunately these are active converters, and some buffer the video signal, potentially introducing lag. Do some research before you invest.

Line doubling RGB SCART to VGA should look fantastic for NTSC consoles.

PAL consoles might be tougher, 50hz isn't used by VGA.

Just get a Dreamcast and an Xbox 360 and call it a day.

You need one of these to play Dreamcast on your monitor.

I think Racketboy has been Out of stock (on this item) for a while. You can still find them on the 'bay or other online retailers.

The cheapest solution is the ~$25 one(s) pictured several times here. The result is far from good IMO - if you've ever seen composite on a large flat-screen with all the enhancements turned on i'd say the results are similar. I didn't notice any signifigant lag tho, so if you just want the image on your monitor it might work for you. Maybe if you combined that with a SLG 3000 it would look better...
