Might be an obscure question, but apparently later in life Majesco took over Game gear duties and reprinted some games. A seller on eBay has contacted me and let me know one game I ordered was no longer in stock, but asked me if I could pick out a substitute. I noticed all of his games either had the ESRB logo rather than the Sega specific one (which i assume means Majesco reprint) but that some of the boxes said Majesco on the bottom. The one game he has listed that doesn't have any of those signs is Sonic 2.
Is there a way to verify for sure it's not one, or a list of the ones Majesco reprinted?
Ways to tell if a game gear game is a Majesco reprint?

Easy - the game gear logo is all white on majescos. On sega game gears, they're red, blue, and green.

Majesco left, Sega right.
EDIT: OH, for actual games? I don't think there are visual markings to differentiate them.
EDIT AGAIN: Although the ESRB was introduced during the Game Gear's natural life span. There are a bunch of GG games with the ESRB rating instead of the Sega rating, so don't use that as an identifier.

Majesco's SNES reprints were easy to spot -- the backside of the games where the warning label was molded into the plastic as opposed to an actual label. The manuals also had a black and white cover.

The Majesco reprints on the game gear most of the time had a label on the bottom of the case saying they did, not sure if the cart had it though. I did find a site that was handy with this topic with some help from a friend.

With that said, i took the copy of sonic 2 from him, why not

Also most if not all were made in Mexico.ExedExes wrote:Majesco's SNES reprints were easy to spot -- the backside of the games where the warning label was molded into the plastic as opposed to an actual label. The manuals also had a black and white cover.
