now I am starting to look at some games made outside of Japan. Any good recommendations? Games I've played outside of Japan so far just to give you an idea on what I may like:
1. Enslaved Odyssey to the West
2. Uncharted series 1-3
3. Tomb Raider 2013
4. Assassin's Creed series - almost all of them, but I particularly like 2 and Brotherhood.
5. Red Dead Redemption - this is like the Wild West game I've been waiting for all this time.
6. Dead Rising 2 and Off the Record
7. Batman Arkham series - grew up watching Batman movies
8. Heavy Rain
9. Castlevania LOS - kinda epic with the exception of the last boss.
Games I'm interested
1. The Last of US
2. Beyond Two Souls
3. Watch Dogs
Games I played, but didn't quite like
1. Alan Wake
2. Mass Effect - I guess I don't have the time and I heard 3 was disappointing.
3. Infamous - not a huge fan of the art direction
4. Heavenly Sword - probably read the novel, but not a huge fan of the adaptation or the art direction.
5. Max Payne 2 - It's an alright game....
6. Prince of Persia 2008 a bit on the boring side.
Games I am thinking about playing
1. Eternal Darkness - fan of horror games
Games I might not like
1. God of War series
Can you tell me what type of games I like to play?
I guess I am what you call a weeaboo gamer

You should definitely try Grand Theft Auto. Vice City is the best of the PS2 series so start with that one.

Stick to the weeaboo games.
For whatever reason I generally have a lot more fun with Japanese games and have since I was maybe... 5?

If you want to try a good non-japanese made horror game, I would suggest picking up Amnesia for PC. There's a sequel to it coming out this fall I believe so if you play it and like it you'll have something to look forward to. Eternal Darkness itself is a great game and I would urge you to give it a try.

Try Fallout 3.
I would type more and give actual reasons why, but I'm tired.

Here's a few games made outside of Japan that I think you will like:
Anachronox
Don't Take It Personally Babe, It Just Ain't Your Story
Septerra Core
Katawa Shoujo
Or just go full blown weeaboo and be happy.

I just bought Eternal Darkness. I watched some gameplay footage of and I thought it looked interesting.
For the person that recommended Fallout, I don't think I'm going to like that game. 1. characters don't look right to me kinda like the same way I felt about Oblivion. 2. Not really a huge fan of Western RPGs.
Grand Theft Auto is also a series I really can't get into.
I also played Tomb Raider Trilogy and didn't really enjoy it.

How does this compare to Digital?J T wrote:Don't Take It Personally Babe, It Just Ain't Your Story
Re: I guess I am what you call a weeaboo gamer
They're both good games. Digital was cool because it did kind of timewarp into the old days of bulletin board services, but DTIPBIJAYS is set slightly into the future at a school where you are the teacher and you have unlimited access to seeing what students are writing to each other on the school's social networking system. I really liked the story of DTIPBIJAYS and got hooked on it. It made me think a lot about the notions of privacy and voyeurism and what those mean in an increasingly net-connected world. I did occassionly find the basic gameplay annoying because you are constantly getting notifications that there is a new message on game's social network site, but overall I really liked it. It does have a different feel than Digital since it is a different time period, different setting, and deals with different issues, but the writing is still good and the story is creative and deals with the impact of technology on our personal lives.o.pwuaioc wrote:How does this compare to Digital?J T wrote:Don't Take It Personally Babe, It Just Ain't Your Story

I am maybe one of the few who will say this, but i actually had a lot more fun playing Bully. VERY underrated game. Not that GTA is bad or anything. I would also suggest maybe Sleeping Dogs. I like the battle system even though it is a little easy once you get the timing down for the counters, but you feel like such a badass when you beat someone up.Retrodude wrote:You should definitely try Grand Theft Auto.
