BRIK's Games Room (Updated 30/6/14)

Post by BRIK »

After been out of the scene for 4-5 months, I've decided that I've missed the joy of retro gaming for far too long, and that it's time to get back into the game.
I've been collecting for over two years now, but there are also a few things in my collection from my childhood (mostly PSone stuff). About 70% was retrieved from the wild.

My vintage 1960's stepdown transformer which I use for my Famicom and Super Famicom. Still works excellently:

This was my Dad's which he originally bought in the 80's. He gave the system to me when I originally set this all up (including the speakers you see in the second photo):

Both these are mine too, I thought it seemed fitting to have them in my retro games room. The reel to reel works fine, I don't know about the record player though; that doesn't have a needle. I do have a working mid 70's player in my bedroom though:

I've put various odds and ends in this display cabinet. The A2600jr and the Game Gear are not functional (for the time being).

Some random boxes and what not in my bedroom:

A half built shelf for my consoles. It will be finished one day... I promise.

I'm always after an excuse to use my fisheye lens.

MOAR GAMES!!! (Please post more up close photo's of your games).

I love seeing photo's of what other Aussies have, no one understands the pains for hunting games in the Wild in Australia.

You got that right. I'll upload some more once my cameras battery is charged.

As requested, here are my games. I don't really have anything special or rare in my collection, but I feel there are a lot of fun games.
In less than a month I'll be getting my drivers licence, and the amount I can go out searching for treasure will go up tenfold. Hopefully it will also mean I'll get some awesome stuff in the next few months. Knowing Australia though, I probably won't >.<

Here are my PS3 and PC games as well for shits and gigs (as well as an extensive beer bottle cap collection). I have plenty more games on my Steam account as well:

Some good titles there, with so little SNES and N64 games, you will not struggle to start to fill up those libraries pretty quickly. What are the DC games that don't have spines?

If you have a bike, you should have everything you need, I have a trip I take a couple of times a week (Woolworths is on the way, so when I do smaller shops, I make it worth while) to a few op shops and a pawn shop and at least once a week I tend to score stuff.

You need to visit places often, even if they don't have anything when you go the first few times. Look through the CD/DVD/VHS section as lots of disc based games (lots of PC) can be found there, usually for a buck a piece. Gotta just keep at it.

I had a bike... but then one of the pedals fell off
The problem is that where I live, that's not really viable. I'm deep into suburbia; bushy, hilly suburbia as well so it takes me about an hour to ride to the nearest shops (even though it's only a five minute drive).
The area where I work is heavily populated and about a 20 minute drive away, that's where I've scored most of my items. Plenty of op-shops and second-hand stores there to choose from.

The games without spines are *ahem* obtained copies. To be honest I can't even remember what they are, haven't looked at them in about a year.

You see something new everyday.

The silver spined PS1/2 games - are those AUS exclusive? PAL is blue I thought and US/JP is mostly Black (or red for GH)

+1 for fisheye
