So apparently Lord British wants to make a new game. I don't really like kickstarter but if the game ever sees the light of day on GOG I wouldn't mind trying it out.

Like I said in the kickstarter thread, looks like we're heading to a renaissanceera of RPGs thanks to Kickstarter. Wasteland 2, Torment: Tides of Numenera, Project Eternity and now a new Ultima game.
My WTB thread (Sega CD/Saturn games)
Also looking to buy: Ys III (TG-16 CD), Shadowrun (Genesis) Hori N64 mini pad and Slayer (3DO) in long box/just the long box

Kickstart an MMO?
So basically, pay to kickstart so I can have the priveledge of a monthly MMO bill?
I used to love Ultima and Lord British. But it's been quite clear since Ultima 9 Lord British has lost it, and I will not get excited anymore about his grand promises.

It was EA's meddling that ruined the game and raped&pillaged the franchise, among many others. And I've got two words for you: Tabula Rasa. Sure it flopped badly (once again, outsiders meddling IIRC), but had a lot of promise and good ideas.da66en wrote: I used to love Ultima and Lord British. I still want to get around to playing some of the older Ultima games. Specifically 7. They look pretty fun, but seem like they'll be really hard to get into.

Fortunately there's going to be a single player mode. Hopefully they put some real effort into it.
If you like RPGs, it's worth giving Ultima I a try. There's not a lot to it, so you're not investing a lot of time and effort. And it's cool to see how far RPGs have come since 1981, especially since console gamers are more familiar with Wizardry descendents. Read a FAQ too if you want, there's very little to spoil.

Re: Kickstarter- Shroud of the Avatar: Forsaken Virtues
IV, V, and VI are my favorite trio of Ultima games.
I used to own the Ultima Collection for PC - which contained 1-8 + Akalabeth. Basically everything except part 9 and the spinoffs. Unfortunately I lost it during a move and it's now quite pricey. I doubt we'll ever see another physical release of any of the classic games - thankfully they're all available on abandonware sites around the web.

Or does that count as an abandonware site?
