CHALLENGE: GET NiGHTS Saturn controller working on Wii!!!!

Post by eastside »

Uh, this is a challenge to anyone wanting to tackle it: to get the original NiGHTS Saturn 3D controller working on Wii... to control NiGHTS JOD, obviously.

I was investigating that in another thread to see if there were any adapters that ever supported the NiGHTS controller and trying to chain adapters to get it working on Wii, but it doesn't look like there is.

If anyone can think of any other method of doing this, then feel free to hypothesize in here.

Incidentally, not the same thing, but I have been using my PS2 Saturn pad on VC games since the launch of Wii...

Presuming the game has Gamecube controller compatibility, the easiest way (although 'easy' isn't really a word for it) would be some sort of Saturn > Gamecube adapter.

Or Saturn>Dreamcast>PS2>Gamecube adapter

RetroZone is coming out with a N64/Wii RetroPort. That's pretty close.

Has anyone used those adapters and had the analog mode work? I know that some of them only allow the digital.

This looks like it is going to comedown to hardware modding.

What if someone rigged a DC controller into a 3D pad? That would skip a hunk of the difficulties with the 3D pad's analog. You would lose two of your buttons, but how many saturn games actually used them all?
