Any way to force 240p display on an incompatible television?

Post by Original_Name »

Hey everybody -- I recently invested a good amount of money into an SCART to RGB converter and a few SCART cables for my favorite retro consoles. Seemed like the best available option for Sega Saturn and Super Nintendo titles outside of emulation. Unfortunately, my Insignia NS-L32X-10A doesn't support 240p signals over component.

So, my problem is that the resolution is simply lower than my set wants to go. Is there any way to make my television play nice with the signal other than forking out crazy money on an upscaler? Some clever workarounds to fool the set? Or, alternatively, are there any upscalers out there that aren't exorbitantly priced? Money's tight, and I'd rather not be spending upwards of a hundred bucks simply for access to lower resolutions.

There's not really a way to force 240p on a TV that won't accept it. You'll need a cheap linedoubler or something. If you have a VGA input you can just plop down another $30-40 on an HD BOX PRO clone.

You're already transcoding everything to component anyway...

If you're handy with a soldiering iron, you can pretty easily wire a scart connector right onto this.

Wow! That's pretty much the perfect option for me, thank you! I'd looked for similar things, but hadn't had the luck. Go questionable Chinese sellers, go!
