As a result of our decision to focus on our core brands, we are:

· Winding down 1UP.com, UGO.com and GameSpy.com;
No longer ad repping 3rd party sites such as GameStop.com and FamilyGuy.com;
· Actively engaged with parties interested in acquiring IPL. IGN's role going forward will be to broadcast and cover a variety of eSports events;
· Dividing our ad sales team into two: one focused on IGN and the other focused on AskMen.
That's a pretty big piece of news for some longstanding sites...

Oh well...I guess that this site and The Gameological Society will be the only sources of video game information for me going forward...

Well damn, now I need a new news site that isn't Kotaku. Any suggestions?

Regardless of how we may feel about the quality of these organizations, I'm still a bit shocked and upset about the changes. I remember when I used to read IGN regulalry...though now that I think about it, that was a decade ago. But wow, those are some big names to see vanishing.

Thankfully there is Rockpapershotgun.com for all my PC gaming needs, and you guys to provide me with word of mouth.

Hmm, does that mean Borderlands 1 multiplayer on PC is going to stop working since it uses gamespy ID? :?

Doesn't bother me really. I like IGN but I don't love it. I mainly like it just for its clean design and review format. That and they're a piece of gaming history in a way. As for 1UP, Gamespy, and UGO though...meh. Gamespy's been around for a while but I never gave a rats ass about them.

I really love ClassicGaming though :\
