You already have FFX on there, but I might add Squall and Rinoa from FF8. I was a teenager when I completed that game, and I thought the love story and outsized emotions were great!

EDIT: Great list, BTW!

I thought the romances in FF VIII and FFX were pretty ridiculous myself.

But I'm not gonna lie, I loved the romance in the Lunar games. I remember when I first played the PS1 version of Silver Star, I had read reviews by fans gushing about "the boat song." I rolled my eyes at the time but later became hooked on the song and really got into Alex and Luna's relationship.
I also really liked how Eternal Blue adds an epilogue which I felt made things more interesting.

THEN AGAIN, I HAVEN'T PLAYED THOSE GAMES SINCE I WAS A TEENAGER SO I'M NOT SURE HOW WELL THEY HOLD UP!

I would be remiss not to bring up Ico and Shadow of the Colossus. Tragic, poignant, and they speak to the player on a purely emotional level.

+James Sunderland's story in Silent Hill 2
/edgy. Nonetheless I do feel that those two are the most compelling and well written love related storylines in the video games I've played. I really don't see anything special at all in the love stories of Final Fantasy games. I liked the writing in RDR but somehow I didn't see anythign special in the relationship of John and Abigail. Shadow of the Colossus is ok (kinda similiar to SH2 in ways) and mentioning Monkey Island is just silly;basically notting happens in the first two games and suddenly they inexplicably decide to get married at the start of the third game. I did like this scene though (words to live by  )

Splatterhouse. You know you got a good boyfriend when he puts on a demonic mask and fights through the legions of hell to save you.

Thank goodness for leaving off Aeris and Cloud. FFVII is finally starting to fall into oblivion, where it belongs.
