Disney Infinty

Post by fastbilly1 »

It took longer than expect for a Skylanders knock off to pop up, but we all knew it would be Disney:

But from what Ive found itll be far worse than Skylanders:
Base set = $75
Play set packs = $35 - these are a level hub and campaign, similar to the Skylanders expansions
Figure - $13
Figure 3 pack - $30

But it will have online play. There is a rumor that the base set will only be a small fraction of the game and the Playsets will continue the story, but we will just have to wait and see. Characters shown so far is fairly impressive:
Mr. Incredible
Elastigirl
Dash
Violet
Syndrome
Edna "E" Mode
Mirage
Rick Dicker
James P. Sullivan
Mike Wazowski
Captain Jack Sparrow
Captain Hector Barbossa
Captain Davy Jones
Joshamee Gibbs
Pintel
Ragetti
Tia Dalma
Sheriff Woody
Buzz Lightyear
Jessie
Lightning McQueen
Mater
Francesco Bernoulli
Holley Shiftwell
Phineas Flynn
Perry the Platypus
Wreck-It Ralph
Jack Skellington
Sadly no Tron so far... Unless the reviews are stellar, Ill be waiting a very long time. Its hard enough to try and finish off Skylanders for a decent price...

Of course it'll be more expensive. Disney commands a certain (perhaps deserved, maybe not) premium similar to what Nintendo does. You can bet if Nintendo made a Skylanders that it would be pricey as well.

I just realized how cool a Nintendo Skylanders would be. Or Sony, or Sega. Man, why'd Disney have to be the ones to make the ripoff?

In due time. Since the wiiupad has NFC built in, there will be a Wiiu game that supports it like Skylanders. I just hope there will be more than Pokemon.

The NFC on the Wii U is ill-suited for Skylanders style games with figures. You can't hold the controller and the figure on it at the same time.

If a game ever does use the native NFC, it would be a card that you just swipe to activate in-game content. I suspect there will be very few, if any, games that use it though, since it would be unique to the Nintendo platform.

I can see them using the wiipad as a standalone portal of power, and you would have to use the wiimote/nunchuk to play. But if it is a tap and go like you said, they could easily just do that with the figures.
