What if Racketboy were a video game?

Post by Key-Glyph »

This might belong in Off-Topic, but the other day I found myself wondering: If we were all characters in a video game, what would we be like?

The idea amused me, so I thought I'd share. If anyone else gets a kick out of this sort of thing, feel free to discuss your own character profile, how you imagine your fellow Racketboys would turn out, or whatever else you'd like.

Here's a short selection of character sketches that popped into my mind along the fighting game theme:

Nemoide
Type: Mad Scientist
Fighting Style: Higher speed, lower strength.
Specialty: Ranged attacks.
Special attack(s): The Bunsen Burner (ranged attack -- think Hadouken)

I know Nemoide for his deep love for monster movies and interest in researching challenging and/or unusual topics (synthesizers, alchemy, etc.) by way of dense books and manuals. Put these things together and it's not hard to exaggerate him into the mad scientist archetype -- a classification which I know he'll welcome. :D

o.pwuaioc
Style: Knight (full armor)
Fighting Style: High defense, lower speed.
Specialty: Counter attacks.
Special attack(s): Socratic Shield (reflects certain attacks back at opponent); Catharsis Counter (deals damage after a certain amount has been absorbed)

o.pwuaioc's previous avatar of Cecil Harvey makes it difficult for me to imagine his character in anything other than full armor, and his love of ancient Greek culture (language, philosophy, etcetera) is a veritable treasure trove of move names and inspirations.

fvgazi
Style: Musician
Fighting Style: Average stats, but has a large library of complex combos.
Specialty: Combos.
Special attacks(s): Sawtooth Wave

I think of fvgazi as a musician, and I know he has an interest in chiptune and digital music. I thought it would be cool if the further you get into a complex combo for his character, the more a musical theme gets fleshed out in-game.

Hmm... I think I like this thread. :P

Inazuma:
Type: Lunatic
Fighting Style: High speed and attack, but movement controls often misbehave.
Specialty: None; hit at all costs.
Special Attacks: Rage Blaster: Three damaging beams shoot out at random angles from Inazuma. Logic Breaker: Stuns opponent and inflicts poison.

I don't think this needs any explanation.

Henry Grik:
Type: Newbie
Fighting Style: Slow speed, low attack, high defense.
Specialty: Damage soak.
Special Attacks: Gain New Knowledge: Absorbs life from opponent. Grab New Thing: Grapple attack that works at any distance. Merry Christmas: Summons giant Christmas tree to fall on opponent.

Inazuma would definitely have to be the final boss.

Hooray for mad science!

Key-Glyph
Type: Psychic Librarian
Fighting Style: Slow movements, low defense, good at keeping distance (I'm thinking like Dhalsim)
Specialty: Ranged attacks
Special attack(s): MIND BLAST

Key-Glyph has chronic migraines. I'm pretty sure in a fighting game, the migraines would have spread into an aura of pain-inflicting telekinesis, letting Key float above the ground, teleport, and allowing long-range hits. But they would also leave her pretty vulnerable to close-range attacks.

Luke
Type: Trickster
Fighting Style: Quick defenses and jabs
Specialty: Turnarounds
Special attack(s): Big Slap, an attack where Luke slaps his hands with inhuman strenght, distancing himself from his enemy.

What do you think Luke? 8)

I am trying my hardest not to make a joke about Luke. Like I was thinking his special would be:
Drawing to Conclusions without knowing anything: This attack would make the other fighter so pissed off that he would walk around the stage until he is attacked by Luke (like being dizzy in street fighter)
But y'know, I would never do something like that ;) .

I haven't decided on who any of the fighters would be yet, but I do know that I would cast Mr. Popo as the old Shang Tsung type of character who sits on a thrown in the background, slowly clapping, and demanding we "FINISH" off each other.

This is also an appropriate time to trot out my favorite mjmjr25 pic again.

Oh, and I call dibs on Guile's Theme for my stage. 8)

You got it right except for the clapping. I keep Hobie on staff to do the clapping for me.
