Suggestions for co-op games

Post by wclem »

Me and my daughter are trying to come up with some good co-op games from the previous generation and back. Games that are not too super heavy on button mashing. We like to play games together that are not competitive between the 2 players (though Mario Kart is an exception)

Beatem-ups are ok if they do not require constant mashing. We are playing Batman rise of sin tzu right now and it is not too hard on the hands. Would love too find out about other genre co-ops though.

PS - NO Lego   :D :D

The Adventures of Cookie & Cream (PS2) is a very good co-op game that does not require much button-mashing. It might be a bit too difficult if your daughter does not have much experience with video games, however...

She is quite the player, and I have that just never got around to trying. Didnt even know it had two player.
...I missed the "and back" part. I would also recommend:

GEN
Altered Beast
Contra: Hard Corps.
Forgotten Worlds
Gunstar Heroes*

NES
Battletoads (the first three levels, at least...I doubt you will get any further than that...)
Bubble Bobble*
Contra*
Life Force
Super C
Snake Rattle 'n Roll

PS1
Norse by Norsewest: The Lost Vikings 2*

SNES
Contra III: The Alien Wars*
Darius Twin
Goof Troop*
Joe & Mac
The Lost Vikings*
Norse by Norsewest: The Lost Vikings 2*
Pocky & Rocky
Sunset Riders*
Super Smach TV
The Secret of Mana* (I really, really, really wish they would make another game like this...the co-op is so awesome.)
Zombies Ate My Neighbors*

(Games with an asterisk are highly recommended for co-op play.)

I just picked up Gunstar Heroes, really need to try. Also need to fire up Sunset Riders! I have never actually tried Forgotten Worlds, though I do have it. I need to youtube it and see what it is like.

By the way, thanks for the list :D
