sometimes when playing games, I get a song in my head because the title could be about the game. For instance DoDonPachi (or most bullet hells) makes me get 2Pac's "Bomb First" in my head. And most RPG's make me think of The Clipse's "Grindin."
Discuss.
Song title that COULD be about video games (but they're not)

Not sure if this counts, but the song Yankee Bayonet by The Decemberists has a really cool line in the lyrics that ALWAYS reminds me of Chrono Trigger (the part where Crono bumps into Marle at the Millenium Fair at the beginning). I've mentioned this to several people whenever the song is on, and everyone just looks at me blankly. Can't really blame them though, it's an obscure reference...

Well, I could say that another thing about Chrono Trigger--though it's not lyrics--that reminds me of something is Robo's Theme and Rick Astley...

My husband and I each played through the Mass Effect 3 Leviathan DLC recently, and one of the achievements that pops up is titled "Under Pressure." Guess what happened. Both times.
That's an obvious one, but I'm extremely susceptible to musical suggestion in all kinds of other situations too. Most of the time I've been thoroughly infected by an earworm (or someone points out that I'm humming a certain tune) before I even realize something in my environment suggested it to me. Then I spend a while puzzling out what set me off. Glad to know other people have this problem too.

The Beatles' "When I'm Sixty Four" reminds me a bit of the N64 for very obvious reasons.
Cranberries' The Icicle Melts could be the scene in some RPGs and platformers after the ice scene (for example FFIX after they leave the Ice Cavern).
Dr Dre's High Powered could fit any game where you get a temporary power up, while his Bang Bang is probably a literal translation of the Japanese for some 8 bit game's gun sound effect.

Wow, seriously nobody beat me to it?
Lana Del Rey, Video Games! Exactly one year ago I spent my evenings playing DonPachi and listening to my favorite radio show, and they would play the Joy Orbison remix of the song like all the time, so now every time I hear that song I see swarms of pink bullets! (It's actually about chick stuff, BTW).
Also this cute little techno track feels like in a bullet hell shmup when the music stops at the end of the stage and then the new music starts for the boss fight and the screen goes crazy (and the player doesn't die; something I've only seen on YouTube because I suck

glad to know I'm not the only Lana Del Rey fan around here. Though that song doesn't really remind me of any one game. But it is def an amazing song (the original version). Born To Die has been one of my fav albums this year actually... still need to pick up the Paradise EP that came out last month.AppliCotton wrote:Wow, seriously nobody beat me to it?

This happens to me a lot. The most notable example I can think of is this FTP client I used to use called Cyberduck, that had a rubber duck for the program icon. Sometimes I would randomly have Ernie's rubber ducky song stuck in my head, and puzzled, I would realize that it was because I had seen the icon for that program.Key-Glyph wrote:That's an obvious one, but I'm extremely susceptible to musical suggestion in all kinds of other situations too. I'm not really reminded of any video games by song titles, that I can think of, but songs that I used to listen to while grinding/farming in FFXI remind me of that game..
Really digging that remix (and the Revive Remix) of the Lana Del Ray song.
