What game are you most proud of in your collection?

Post by Retrogamer0001 »

I don't necessarily mean the rarest or most valuable (though they usually go hand in hand), but what game are you just happy to own, and enjoy showing off to people? This can be pretty tough for those of us with huge collections, so breaking it down by system or genre is ok too :D

My number one is probably (not surprisingly)my mint copy of Panzer Dragoon Saga. Yeah, it's a cliched choice, but it's the crown jewel of my collection. I also have other Saturn gems like Dragon Force, Magic Knight Rayearth, Shining Force 3, and a few more, but PDS takes the cake. My complete Snatcher on Sega CD is also high on the list.

That being said, I'm also really happy to own complete copies of Zelda: A Link to the Past and Super Metroid. Shadow Hearts on Ps2 and my complete copy of Lunar 2 for PS1 also give me the warm and fuzzies.

Marvel vs capcom 2 or seaman in the cardboard box. I'm just a wee lad so I think that's pretty awesome to have.

Some of my complete Super Famicom RPGs: Ys IV and V, Star Ocean, Tales of Phantasia, and Seiken Densetsu 3. None are particularly valuable but are great games and pretty to look at.

I have a CIB of Super Mario Bros (by itself) for the NES mint.

Got it when I bought a lot of games with my top loader. I plan on framing it up on my wall.

I just recently completed aquiring every version of Marvel Vs. Capcom: Clash of Superheroes for the Dreamcast so I feel pretty good about that right now. This includes 3 US variants, UK release and JPN release.

System Shock 2 I guess. Not the rarest or most valuable game that I own, but it's one of my favorite games of all time and the big box version is some what rare and quite expensive. Game collecting feels good when you own some excellent games that sold poorly and are therefore rare. It feels especially awesome to discover some hidden gem games that virtually no one except collectors know of.

I've got some rare and obscure games that I'm really happy to own that not many people care about though. It's pretty cool if you can find obscure games that intrest you that are really rare but not in high value because most collectors dont know or care about it. On the other hand most people will react "meh" if you mention that you own such games on a forum like this :) It's all about dem Earthbounds and Panzer Dragoon Sagas.

I love how artistic the cardboard box (and the post cards) is compared to regular PS2 game boxes. It feels appropriate that the only 2 PS2 games that I have with those are SOTC and Silent Hill 2 - the two most refined and artistic games on the system. Too bad those cardboard boxes are also quite susceptible to wear and tear.
My WTB thread (Sega CD/Saturn games)
Also looking to buy: Ys III (TG-16 CD), Shadowrun (Genesis) Hori N64 mini pad and Slayer (3DO) in long box/just the long box

Neither rare or particularly expensive, but all three of the installments of Mechwarrior 2 in their original DOS form. For a while those games were my life.

I also finally got a copy of Deadlock 2 Shrine Wars which doesn't mean much to most people but a friend of mine had it and we played the heck out of it so I always wanted a copy of it.
