Switching from NTSC to PAL
Switching from NTSC to PAL
What's the easiest way to switch a collection from NTSC to PAL in the event, say, one were to move from USA to Europe?
Re: Switching from NTSC to PAL
Get a multisystem TV for older consoles (HD standards are largely international), and power transformers.

Re: Switching from NTSC to PAL
Why go through all that hassle when you can just buy a few step down converters for 15-20 euros each and play with your NTSC consoles and games?
My WTB thread (Sega CD/Saturn games)
Also looking to buy: Ys III (TG-16 CD), Shadowrun (Genesis) Hori N64 mini pad and Slayer (3DO) in long box/just the long box

Re: Switching from NTSC to PAL
Yes, nearly all TV's here now are compatible with the NTSC signal, so all you would need is a step down converter I guess.

Re: Switching from NTSC to PAL
There's nothing wrong with PAL. Especially now games here are 60hz and fullscreen.
But if you're talking about the older systems, then personally I say fuck the companies for being too lazy to optimize games for PAL release

Re: Switching from NTSC to PAL
Minimize the amount of step down converters necessary, by selling external NTSC power supplies you're aware of equivalents for.
You can also sell other video cables for consoles where RGB is easily attainable. Superior image quality and less needing to deal with NTSC's color space. Overall a TV who properly accepts 60hz with SCART should be the ultimate tool for moving an NTSC collection to Europe.

Yeah AFAIK often PAL versions very literally were not programmed. Lucky if there was any intentional code to recognize 50hz.
