You'd do anything for it.
Or would you? How far would you all go for the games you love the most?
I myself have bought the same game three times. I bought Fallout 3 when I got a PS3 a couple years ago. Then I bought one of the DLC for it. When I got a Xbox 360 I bought the GOTY edition so I could have all the DLC and the less buggy version. Now, as of today, I've bought the GOTY edition AGAIN. For PC. I don't even plan on downloading many mods. Maybe I'll try a couple, but I mostly just bought that version so I can have the better mouse aiming controls and slightly better looking textures.
That's not all. I've bought HD versions of several games I already owned because I loved them (Examples: Shadow of the Collossus, MGS3) and plan on doing it again very soon (DMC3, RE4).
But please, don't think this is just a "how many times have you bought the same game" thread. Any kind of scenario you can think of will work, this was just the first thing I thought of.
Show some love.

Re: When you love a game enough
I've actually gotten all the trophies AND achievements for Lollipop Chainsaw this year. I even obsessed about getting the pre-order exclusive outfits despite having only played the game after its release and was lucky to have people help me out with that.
I bought Hell Yeah! Wrath of the Dead Rabbit on both PS3 and 360 not that long ago. I already got 100% trophies and have been running through a second playthrough on again, off again on the 360.
I've purchased Batman Arkham City like four times on PS3 and Xbox, including Collector's Editions. Plus, I lucked out and got a free copy of the PC Steam version from someone on this forum.
After playing through Mark of the Ninja twice on 360 and getting all achievemtns, I've actually been considering buying it again on Steam just to enjoy playing it again
After downloading Journey and loving every minute of it, I actually went out and bought the physical, disc based version of it as well.
So yeah, I get kind of crazy with games I love. I've actually purchased both the American AND Japanese version of Maverick Hunter X on the PSP, just because because they each had different intro music. Plus, I wanted to be able to experience the original Japanese voice cast and not just the english dub on the American version
I was actually listening to a gaming podcast recently where a guy purchased every platform version of the Darkness II (including PC) and was on the verge of getting every single achievement on the 360 version. One of his podcast buddies acted like he was crazy, but the guy said he just really, really likes The Darkness II.

I've bought every version of Final Fantasy IV and every version of every Gran Turismo game. That's about it.

Re: When you love a game enough
I bought Tales of the Abyss for 3DS even though it really doesn't add anything substantial from the original to warrant a second purchase.
I don't. Could you please go into further detail?ice445 wrote:Well, when mommy and daddy love each other very much.....

I have like 30 different versions of Tetris and/or Dr. Mario, since I own a lot of systems and those are my favourite puzzle games.

Re: When you love a game enough
My original Medal of Honor savegame from 2003 was corrupted a few years back, yet I hold on to it anyway. I can't bear to delete my first savegame from the first console I ever owned. So basically, 8 kb of every PS1 memory card I use is hogged by a useless file with Chinese lettering for the description.

Re: When you love a game enough
There are only a few games that I truly love and would probably buy again and again.
Chrono Trigger
Super Metroid
The Guardian Legend (NES)
Hell I'd even buy The Guardian Legend right now, and I don't even own an NES.

Re: When you love a game enough
My Nintendo asked me if I love it,
and I choked on my reply.
I'd rather hurt it honestly,
than mislead it with a lie.
And who am I to judge it on what you play or do
I'm only just beginnin' to see some blast processing in you.
And sometimes when we touch, the honesty's too much.
And I have to close my eyes and hide,
I wanna play you till I die, till we both break down and cry,
I wanna play you till the fear in me subsides.
