tupac your alive!!!....err...i mean maybe change your title to: Problem With Some "BURNED" Ps1 Games No background Music

well since it is a burned disc, expect it to be not perfect...and this is normal. i bet only the sound effects made it.

on another note, this topic belongs in the emulation thread.

If you use .iso format, all cd tracks except the first data tracks are lost. This means no cd audio, like in ridge racer. iso is fine for rpgs and the like, but if your game has cd audio make sure to use bin/cue, img, cdi type images.

ridge racer is a game that you can play your own cd music.

The game loads, you pop it open and put in your own disc.

maybe since you have a burned disc, the PS1 doesnt know about the music on the emu disc and doesnt play them. The whole game is on the systems memory and the burned disc does not have the instructions/music files. So no music.

Ridge Racer is dirt cheap, maybe you should just buy it. I have two or three copies somewhere in storage.

Its a launch game, so it shouldn't be too hard to find.

Another thing: Play your images in an emulator first to make sure they work. Burn at slow speeds, I recommend 4x or 6x. Your console will thank you.

I could be wrong... but aren't you generally supposed to burn the audio tracks first (before the data) when making cd-r's? Thought I've heard this somewhere before. Maybe that's the issue??

I feel it is just a matter of the disc images he uses not having the redbook audio. The CD tracks were often left out so the release would be smaller, or sometimes provided as MP3s, which could be converted to WAVs.
