Does Anybody Own an X-Arcade Joystick?
Does Anybody Own an X-Arcade Joystick?
I know I've read reviews of them, but I usually take them with a grain of salt when they are from a general gaming site that isn't usually very picky? Does anyone have one that they could compare to other joysticks?

I don't own one but have talked to people who do and they all say it's not worth the money. Your best bet is here That way you get real arcade parts which is guaranteed quality and you get the joy of making it how you want to.

I was actually researching these things recently. Reviews for them all over the net are overwhelmingly positive. However, every single forum I've been too mercilessly bashed them for using cheap parts rather than arcade quality ones
Really shows how out of touch major gaming sites are with the gaming community.

Yeah I read that its not worth it. If your looking for a PC arcade stick(can be used with the 360 also for whenever I play SF4, kept mine even though I dont have a 360) buy the xbox 360 hori stick, its pretty high quality, but not like arcade quality. Plus you can mod it(tutorials can be found online)with some real arcade parts you just buy online and install using some tools and whatnot. Plus its only $60(online and if you can find it in stores). Or you can just go with making your own if you have the skills required, or just get someone to make you one. Browse these threads in this subforum for Shoyuken since alot of people try to get the best and use the best for fighting games there. http://forums.shoryuken.com/forumdisplay.php?f=177

The components are not arcade quality, unless they have changed recently. But if are handy with a screwdriver, you can switch out all of them for real components - if you do want to do this I can set you up with the guy I work with out of BYOAC.
If I was going to buy a standalone unit, I would buy the Hanaho Hotrod SE. All happs parts, keyboard encoder, and pinball flippers, which I used as coin. The only downside is you cannot reprogram the encoder, so player 2 has shift as one of their keys. Mame will recognize that, but not all emulators. Well that and it is PS/2 only.

Cheaper to boot.

Except, I wouldn't want to have to build one myself.dudex77 wrote:I don't own one but have talked to people who do and they all say it's not worth the money. Your best bet is here That way you get real arcade parts which is guaranteed quality and you get the joy of making it how you want to.
I just don't have the time to learn how to put one together.
I'll build my own PC because I could do that in my sleep, but joysticks are something I've never dealt with.
