There are no cheaper GC component cables because the official ones are all there is. There's a decoder chip in the cable that nobody has been able to replicate its fuctionality. Otherwise the best you can do is s-video for all of them unless you start modding.

I like having my gamecube in working condition, I'd rather leave it alone hahaHobie-wan wrote:There are no cheaper GC component cables because the official ones are all there is. I came across this.. But I'm unsure what this is.. It looks European and I don't live in Europe and my television isn't European..C-Sword wrote:Not sure if this is what you're looking for

A very long shot, Gamestop has a specific SKU for it. I got one for under five bucks, posted back in the Game Finds somewhere many months ago. The Gamecube Component cables are only for the Gamecube that has the second digital out port. SNES and N64 have only the analog port for only SVideo or Composite.DAAAAA!! wrote:They're expensive as hell on eBay and Amazon.. Has anyone found anything cheaper?
Scart connection for European TVs, but not true separation. Certainly not HD since the analog port of the consoles are only Composite or SVideo.C-Sword wrote:Not sure if this is what you're looking for

Model 1 SNES has both RGB and svideo.
Model 2 SNES has neither RGB or svideo.
N64 has svideo, yet not RGB.
Europeans didn't need to worry about model 2 SNES, it was never released there. While svideo is unpopular in Europe so finding a correct PAL N64 cable is difficult...

For the price you can just buy a B/C Wii. Think of it, a cable or a whole system?
It kills me the price people charge/pay for these things.

True RGB scart sure does look great in my opinion though. I have most of my retro consoles set up that way on my HD tv's and they look awesome. I'm in the UK though and believe scart isn't compatible or used in North America. Plus N64 doesn't support it here and I don't think Gamecube did either (but I might have that wrong). SNES doe though.CRTGAMER wrote:Scart connection for European TVs, but not true separation. Certainly not HD since the analog port of the consoles are only Composite or SVideo.

SCART is just a connector, not a video standard, albeit one that never found acceptance here in the US. I have a bunch of SCART cables for my systems and I use them along with an adapter on my RGB monitor. I've also got a SCART to component converter which is probably the most common route for using SCART cables here.Reprise wrote:I'm in the UK though and believe scart isn't compatible or used in North America.

Yeah it's been said before. A big reason 15khz RGB failed here was lack of agreed connector standard. Our few displays that even accept it direct, may use other input methods like d-sub or BNC.
