Front Page Posts: Less Frequent, But Higher Quality

Post by racketboy »

You've probably already noticed a gradual change towards me posting to the blog less often, but having larger posts.
Well, just a heads-up, once 2008 hits, this may be more noticeable.

I've been scheduling out my post ideas and given how in-depth some of them are, I think it would be best to only post every 3 or 4 days (2 to 3 times a week).

Since the normal posts will be less frequent, I think the regular features such as the Artwork and Music Mix posts should only be once a month to keep things balanced and varied.

If I get more articles writen by other contributers, of course, that might make things a bit more frequent, but my goal is to keep from getting burned out and for effecting my familiy life and my full-time day job.

I also have the new game database under development, so I'll also need more time to build and manage that.

Does this sound ok to everyone?

That's less per month than you were doing :)
We'll keep it at the every three weeks until 2008 hits.

I'm guessing that was sarcasm. I don't really see how you need anyones permission.

Not sarcasm -- I sincerly like feedback. If it wasn't for all of you guys, this place would probably be history by now.

Damn Racket. I mean this in the best possible way , you are to much of a good guy.

Quality over quantity can only be a good thing. Besides what is more important family or a website.( even if it is a really good one)

I think you're doing great. This website has enough quality material that it doesn't require constant front page updates. Just today, I was looking at the essential Dreamcast games.

I spend most of my time in the forums. I enjoy drawing on the expertise of everyone here.

I'd rather have you keep a healthy schedule and maintain the site than get burned out and shut down. Go play Bejeweled man - it's soothing.

The first three months of the year I am a bit of a waste online, damn Momocon. But after that I should be able to help out some.

I had an idea the other day for an article. Basically any member could write a short story describing their first gaming memory, submit it to you for approval, at which point you decide whether or not it is worth putting up or whether the content is appropriate.

The idea is to give an insight into what started each individual on thier way with gaming and apart from the aforementioned submission for approval, you don't have to do any work allowing you to do other things.

Ironically Droid Party, just last week I was working on a bit for Momocon and that was the first part of it. Inspired by the PAX keynote at that.
